Pharmaceutical manufacturer Exela to expand Lenoir plant

Exela Pharma Sciences, a pharmaceutical manufacturer, said Thursday it will expand its plant in Lenoir, adding 38 jobs and spending $8.5 million on capital investments over three years.
The company is eligible for an $189,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund, as well as local incentives.
Exela Pharma Sciences is a wholly owned subsidiary of Exela PharmSci Inc. Exela develops and manufactures injectable and ophthalmic pharmaceutical products. The company has more than 40 employees in Lenoir.
The average annual wages for the new jobs will be $47,395, plus benefits. By comparison, the Caldwell County average annual wage is $29,640.
