FDA Issues Recall for B. Braun Medical Antibiotic

October 16th, 2013 // 6:48 pm @

FDA has alerted doctors in the US about the recall of an injectable antibiotic that is made by B. Braun Medical, because of floating particles that were found in some vials of the antibiotic.

FDA posted this notice late today, and it warned that the company had recalled some lots of Cefepime for Injection USP and Dextrose Injection USP. Some particles were visible in samples from some lots, and this included specks of metal, fibers and hair.

FDA warned that using these drugs could cause serious blood clots and lead to heart attack, strokes, and major complications.

The drug was sent out to many hospitals, pharmacies and medical suppliers.
