500 new jobs announced for Dublin and Galway

A PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY has announced it is to create more than 500 new jobs in Dublin and Galway over the next four years.
Mylan, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, said it plans to create 220 jobs in Galway and 280 in Dublin by 2016. The company is to invest up to €76 million per year in its Irish business.
The pharma company currently employs about 700 people at its facilities in Ireland and says the new jobs will be in its R&D and manufacturing capabilities within the company’s respiratory, injectibles and oral solids franchises.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton welcomed the move, which is supported by the IDA.
“The life sciences industry is a key part of this government’s strategy for jobs and growth,†said Richard Bruton at the announcement in Baldoyle in Dublin this afternoon.
Around 50,000 people are employed by the life sciences industry in Ireland.
