160 Novartis Temporary Employees Without Jobs

Novartis in Lincoln, NE reduced its temporary employee workforce by 160 people.

Novartis released the information through a statement Saturday. It did not say when the employees were notified and Novartis did not explain why the workers were released.

However, the plant in Lincoln shut down in the end of December after a problem caused powerful prescription pain pills to get mixed up with over-the-counter drugs.

Novartis voluntarily recalled bottles of Excedrin, Bufferin, Gas-X and No-Doz.

The statement says Novartis is “working toward a plan to resume manufacturing and they expect to start shipments mid-year.”

It goes on to say they expect approximately 40 temporary workers to stay on to work in manufacturing and packaging.
